Head of Finance – Two Year Fixed Term Contract – Remote

Our client is a private equity backed global challenger bank, currently going through an exciting digital transformation. With a strategy to enter fintech banking and digital assets, the organization is on fast growth trajectory.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of Finance to support the CFO in managing and evolving the finance function of the bank. This role is instrumental in driving financial performance, ensuring strong financial controls, and acting as a strategic partner across the business to support its growth objectives.

As Head of Finance, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for financial accounting, management reporting, financial planning & analysis, accounts payable, and data management. You will oversee the integrity of financial reporting in compliance with IFRS, manage budgeting and forecasting processes, and implement best-in-class controls to support a robust and scalable finance function.

This is a key leadership position in a dynamic and fast-evolving banking environment, providing the opportunity to drive strategic financial decision-making while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and lead the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Oversee monthly financial close, legal entity consolidation, and reporting processes.
  • Lead the preparation of financial statements for the bank and subsidiaries.
  • Manage financial reporting for loan portfolios and provide insights to business leaders.
  • Drive improvements in financial processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable function and identify opportunities for process enhancement.

Financial Planning, Analysis & Data Management

  • Oversee the development of business models to support budgeting and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare and present financial insights to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycles.
  • Identify cost efficiencies and expense management opportunities.
  • Develop and enhance the bank’s data management function to drive financial and operational insights.

Control Environment & Process Improvement

  • Lead the implementation of change initiatives to improve finance processes and leverage technology.
  • Strengthen the finance control environment and ensure compliance with risk management frameworks.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) for the Finance function.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and mentor a high-performing finance team.
  • Partner with auditors, external consultants, and key strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the bank to enhance financial decision-making.
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports and insights to the Executive Committee, Board, and Audit & Risk Committee.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CMA, or Similar).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in financial services, banking, / banking audit.
  • Expertise in IFRS compliance, financial statement preparation, audit processes, and financial controls.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing finance teams in a banking environment.
  • Strong experience in financial planning, forecasting, and business modelling.
  • An added bonus is proficiency in Great Plains, T24 Core Banking systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and present to senior stakeholders and board-level executives.
  • Agile and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving financial landscape.

This role will be rewarded at up to £150,000, depending on experience.
