Director of Finance – Multi-Family Real Estate

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Finance to lead the financial operations and strategy for our growing multi-family real estate portfolio. This critical role involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis while driving operational efficiency and supporting the company’s long-term growth objectives.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned finance professional with a proven track record in multi-family real estate, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Planning & Strategy:

• Develop and oversee long-term financial plans and forecasts to support the company’s multi-family real estate investments and operations.
• Partner with leadership to align financial strategies with the company’s growth objectives and market opportunities.
• Evaluate and recommend financing options, including debt and equity structures, to support acquisitions and developments.

Budgeting & Reporting:

• Lead the preparation and management of annual budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing key insights and recommendations to leadership.
• Monitor the performance of the portfolio against budget and pro forma projections, analyzing variances and providing actionable insights.

Operational Oversight:

• Collaborate with property management and operations teams to ensure efficient financial performance across assets.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for portfolio performance and operational success.
• Streamline financial processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Investment Analysis & Support:

• Provide financial analysis and modeling for acquisitions, dispositions, and development opportunities.
• Conduct due diligence for potential investments, ensuring financial risks are understood and mitigated.
• Prepare investment summaries and presentations for executive leadership and investors.

Compliance & Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, company policies, and reporting requirements.
• Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams to maintain financial and operational integrity.
• Identify and address potential financial risks within the portfolio.

QualificationsEducation & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in financial roles, with a focus on multi-family real estate or a similar asset class.
• Demonstrated success in financial planning, budgeting, and operational oversight for real estate portfolios.

Technical Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.
• Strong knowledge of real estate financing, debt structures, and equity partnerships.
• Proficiency in property management and accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar systems).
• Expertise in Feeder/Blocker fund structures and familiarity with foreign investor requirements.
• Hands-on experience with third-party fund administrators (e.g., Juniper Square) and financial platforms.
