Freelance Illustrator

This role is ideal for a skilled digital artist passionate about teaching and mentoring beginners in digital art. You will provide one-on-one guidance to a student working on a school project focused on character concept design for an existing video game. The mentorship will cover digital coloring techniques, effective use of Photoshop, and the creation of a reference sheet and moodboard to capture character details and visual inspiration. The project is fully remote and aims to help the mentee develop foundational digital art skills and confidence, with a completion deadline in June. Responsibilities

• Mentor and support a beginner in digital art through the process of creating a character concept design
• Teach digital coloring methods and Photoshop fundamentals tailored to the mentee’s skill level
• Guide the creation of a detailed reference sheet and moodboard for the chosen video game character
• Provide constructive feedback and actionable advice to help the mentee improve their artistic abilities
• Ensure the mentee stays on track to meet the project deadline in June
• Communicate regularly via remote channels, adapting teaching style to the mentee’s learning pace

Skills And Requirements

• Proven experience as a digital artist or illustrator, with a strong portfolio demonstrating character design and digital coloring
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
• Prior experience mentoring, tutoring, or teaching digital art to beginners is highly desirable
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and the ability to explain complex concepts simply
• Ability to provide clear, actionable feedback and foster a supportive learning environment
• Reliable internet connection and availability for remote sessions
