Experience: 5+ years
The American Federation for Children is seeking a Creative Designer (Mid-Level) to produce high-quality visual work that advances our mission and strengthens our brand, with a primary focus on the AFC Scholarship Fund. This is a career-level role for a skilled creative who can take projects from concept to final asset with minimal direction, maintain brand consistency across our work, and bring a sharp eye to everything they touch. This position reports to the Creative Director.
Responsibilities:
- Design accurate, polished, and compelling materials across print and digital assets including website, landing pages, social media, paid ads, emails, presentations, white-papers, and other brand assets.
- Respond to and fulfill AFC Scholarship Fund design requests, owning each project through completion and ensuring adherence to brand standards across our work.
- Help build and maintain AFC Scholarship Fund brand systems and lead brand governance as scalable infrastructure rather than one-off deliverables.
- Stay informed about design trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, and make recommendations for integrating them into our creative strategy.
- Maintain awareness of the public policy space in which AFC Scholarship Fund operates, along with AFC's broader organizational perspective and messaging on key issues.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong graphic design proficiency across the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator), plus PowerPoint and Canva.
- A portfolio that demonstrates command of layout, typography, color, and brand systems.
- Working knowledge of web and landing page design, including WordPress, Elementor, Squarespace, and AI-assisted design and development tools like Figma and Claude Code.
- Video editing skills are welcome but not expected.
- Alignment with AFC's mission to empower families, especially lower-income families, with the freedom to choose the best K-12 education for their children.
- 5+ years of professional design experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Comprehensive benefits package that includes a 401K plan with 5% match, vacation time plus office closures for the weeks of Christmas and the 4th of July, comprehensive health and dental plans, and annual reimbursement for wellness expenses.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
