Overview
A leading global provider of event intelligence solutions is seeking a dynamic Commercial Director to drive strategic growth and lead commercial operations. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for a commercially minded individual with a proven track record of scaling revenue, building client relationships and managing high-performing teams.
You will be responsible for designing and executing commercial strategies, leading sales and business development efforts, and ensuring consistent commercial success across international markets.
Whilst this role is primarily remote, applicants should be able to travel to the head office in Amsterdam as/when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with business objectives
- Oversee sales and business development teams to drive client acquisition and retention
- Identify new market opportunities and build strategic partnerships
- Lead contract negotiations and close high-value deals
- Manage, mentor and support commercial personnel
- Track and report on performance metrics, providing insight and recommendations
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform decision-making
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align commercial initiatives with company goals
Your Day-to-Day
- Lead, coach and support a high-performing commercial team
- Collaborate with product and marketing teams to shape go-to-market plans
- Conduct market research to identify trends and customer needs
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients and industry leaders
- Develop pricing strategies and proposals in collaboration with product teams
- Monitor KPIs and adjust strategy to meet business targets
- Work cross-functionally to support strategic growth initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or a related field
- 5+ years' experience in a Commercial Director or senior commercial role
- Proven success in business development, sales strategy and revenue growth
- Strong understanding of sales, marketing and commercial operations
- Skilled in market research, data analysis and budgeting
- Inspirational leadership and excellent team management skills
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal abilities
Desirable Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration or related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIM)
- Proficiency with CRM systems and sales analytics tools
- Experience with international markets and commercial law
