Lead Fullstack Mobile Engineer

Thirdfort helps businesses to facilitate these anti fraud checks so that individuals know they can transact safely and seamlessly with professionals during these big transactions. Our anti-fraud platform provides a secure way for professionals in regulated sectors like Lawyers, Estate Agents and Accountants to transfer funds and verify sensitive information through app based document checks, facial recognition and open banking. Over 1500 businesses now trust Thirdfort to verify their clients. We are looking for a Lead Fullstack Mobile Engineer to join our technology team and play a key role in driving forward the implementation of our new CDD platform vision. You will be technically leading our mobile domain, and be responsible for the technical integrity and success of our iOS and Android mobile applications. This is very much a fullstack role though, hence you’ll also have an opportunity to contribute across the full software stack and building and delivering functionality end-to-end. It’s a really exciting time to join the organisation, as we’re just in the infancy of building the next iteration of our product suite. It’s a great chance to make real impact, and collaborate with other functions across the business to engineer solutions to real user problems. Our Product and Tech teams are remote first and so this individual can be based anywhere in the UK. This does not mean though that our remote first team aren’t welcome in our offices as we value the times when we can come together in person. Ultimately we trust our team to work in the way that suits them best. As a Lead Engineer you will:

• Lead delivery of our mobile application, and get stuck in across our software stack ensuring that the construction and launch of our new due diligence platform is a success.
• Ensure that we hit our quality targets, in particular on the mobile side, and that we successfully hit our engineering-focused KPIs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design and other stakeholders to shape requirements, set delivery expectations and ensure that we are transparent with the organisation around progress.
• Support with development of new capabilities, with a particular focus on supporting stakeholders in understanding how our users interface with our products, and support with turning those learnings into tangible actions.
• Coach and mentor other engineers in the team, supporting them to broaden their skillsets and become competent working in the mobile domain.
• Contribute to our engineering culture, advocate for learning and proper usage of the new technologies, and lead by example on knowledge sharing and collaboration across the whole Engineering group.
• Additional duties as required.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has significant experience architecting, building and shipping mobile applications for both Android and iOS devices.
• Bonus points if you’ve experience migrating from native languages over to React Native.
• Can work across the stack, in particular you’ve got demonstrable experience developing backend services using modern backend languages such as Go, TypeScript or Node.js.
• Can model data and are adept working with relational SQL databases, in particular PostgreSQL.
• Has a no-compromise approach to the quality of your work, are passionate about testing and driving engineering excellence through best practices like CI/CD.
• Are a self starter, are comfortable working in a startup environment and can work both independently and collaboratively with others to distill ambiguous requirements into pragmatic solutions.
• Can communicate complex topics with stakeholders of varying technical ability and can generate buy in for new concepts
• You have a strong product mindset, and can view problems from various perspectives and can balance ‘building the right thing’ against ‘building the thing right’.
• You’re a passionate technologist, and always have one eye on the expanding frontier of software engineering and like to bring new ideas to the group to help the organisation to accelerate towards our goals.
