Job Description Our Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for leading all of Montu’s Employee Relations frameworks, processes and practices, and ensuring they meet a high standard of practicality, regulatory, and legal compliance. This role has a number of internal stakeholders through whom the execution of many of these practices occur – such as the People and Talent team, and people leaders. This role is the internal 'Subject Matter Expert' and must maintain a high degree of knowledge, while being comfortable giving advice on complex ER matters. and leading high risk, high profile and highly complex cases, independently. Employee Relations Case Management

  • Bring a diverse range of approaches and solutions to managing ER cases and risk
  • Provide key guidance and support to People Partners on addressing cases.
  • Be primary manager and point of contact of high risk cases where appropriate
  • Perform moderate to high risk and/or complexity investigations
  • Provide general case management support and guidance to People Partners on navigating ER issues
  • Represent the Company at mediation hearings as required.
  • Run and own the use and delivery of services of external parties, such as legal counsel, external, investigators, etc.
  • Ensure all case notes and documentation are properly maintained.

Employee Relations Framework

  • Ensure policies, procedures, templates and frameworks are in place, up to date, and well understood and actioned by the relevant parties (eg, People Partners, Managers etc)
  • Ensure contractual documents (eg. employment agreements) are appropriately drafted to manage for ER risk.
  • Ensure the People and Talent team operates within an appropriate framework, including training, policies, procedures and documents.
  • Manage any government submissions required as they relate to Employment compliance, eg WGEA.

Employee Relations Business Capability

  • Identify ER skill and capability gaps and partner with others (eg, L&OD) to organise training to build capability.
  • Review ER data to identify patterns of risk and identify strategies to reduce risk across the organisation.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge of government proposals or draft legislation that may have significant business impact, and prepare draft papers for discussion.

Qualifications

  • Degree Qualified in IR, HR or Law
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in Employee Relations (within complex/matrix environments)
  • Trained ER investigator with consulting + in-house experience
  • Experience interpreting and understanding Fair Work rulings, and translating requirements into frameworks (Australian experience is required).
  • Experience building ER business capability in a scale up environment will be highly regarded.
