Family & Au Pair Support Consultant
Job Description
Posted on: March 12, 2026
About Kokun
Kokun is an Australian service supporting families and international au pairs to build safe, respectful and successful living and working relationships.
Hosting an au pair can be an incredibly rewarding experience for both families and young people.
However, like any shared living and working arrangement, it requires clear expectations, open communication, and support when challenges arise.
Kokun provides structured guidance, practical resources and facilitated conversations to help families and au pairs navigate these relationships successfully.
In addition to supporting host families, Kokun also provides guidance to young adults living overseas for the first time, helping them navigate life in a new country, understand cultural expectations and build confidence while away from home.
As Kokun grows, we are seeking experienced professionals who are skilled in facilitating conversations, building trust, and helping people work through sensitive issues constructively.
About the Role
We are seeking one or two experienced professionals to work with Kokun families and au pairs on a contract basis.
Your role will involve facilitating structured conversations and check-ins to help both parties build a positive and respectful living and working relationship.
Typical engagements may include:
- Facilitating expectation-setting conversations between families and au pairs
- Conducting first-week and first-month check-ins
- Supporting difficult conversations where issues arise
- Helping families and au pairs reset expectations or communication patterns
- Providing calm, practical guidance to young adults navigating life in a new country
Most engagements will take place via video call, with occasional in-person meetings where helpful.
Workload will vary depending on demand, making this role ideal for professionals seeking flexible, meaningful work alongside other commitments.

You are calm, emotionally intelligent and highly skilled at navigating sensitive conversations.
You may come from a background in:
- HR / People & Culture
- Social Work
- Counselling or Psychology
- Mediation or Conflict Resolution
- Education or Youth Work
- Expatriate or relocation support
You are comfortable guiding conversations where:
- expectations are unclear
- communication has broken down
- both sides need support to feel heard
You are balanced and fair, able to support both families and au pairs in a constructive and respectful way.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong listening and facilitation skills
- Ability to manage sensitive conversations with empathy and clarity
- Professional judgement and discretion
- Confidence working independently
- Interest in supporting families and young people from diverse cultural backgrounds
Experience with family dynamics, workplace relationships or cross-cultural environments is highly valued.
Engagement Model
This is a contractor role, with work allocated on a per-engagement basis.
It may particularly suit experienced professionals seeking flexible, meaningful work alongside other consulting, clinical or family commitments.
