User Researcher

A specialist consultancy is seeking an experienced User Researcher to join a high-profile government digital memorial project. This role requires sensitivity, professionalism, and prior experience working with senior-level stakeholders in public or institutional sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative user research to understand needs, behaviours, and pain points.
• Use diverse research methods including interviews, usability testing, surveys, and ethnographic studies.
• Analyse findings to identify patterns and generate actionable insights.
• Ensure all research is ethically sound, securing appropriate consent and protecting user privacy.
• Align research with relevant policies and standards, including WCAG 2.2 and GOV.UK service design principles.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to embed user insights into design and delivery.
• Champion user needs and guide stakeholders toward evidence-based decisions.
• Clearly communicate findings through reports, visual storytelling, and verbal presentations.

Required Experience:

• Demonstrated ability to conduct research on sensitive or high-stakes projects involving government or public institutions (e.g. Parliament, COBR, judiciary).
• Strong familiarity with GOV.UK service manual and service standards.
• Experience influencing high-level stakeholders and promoting user-centred approaches in complex environments.

Summary:

Contract: Initial 8 weeks (likely extension)

Location: Remote (with occasional travel)
