As a controller for Atlas Health, you'll help build and support Atlas's finance function. This is a remote position.

What You’ll DoOwn the Numbers

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with speed and accuracy
  • Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Maintain a clean, well-documented general ledger
  • Analyze results, flag risks, and explain variances to leadership

Build & Scale Accounting Operations

  • Own core accounting functions: GL, AP, AR, invoicing, treasury, etc. 
  • Design and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting standards as the business evolves
  • Manage revenue recognition and other complex accounting areas as applicable

Compliance & Audit Readiness

  • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and statutory requirements
  • Serve as primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, and external partners
  • Lead audits, reviews, and tax filings with a focus on audit readiness
  • Strengthen internal controls without slowing the business down

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Own accounting systems and tools (ERP, close tools, reporting)
  • Lead accounting system implementations or migrations as the company scales
  • Automate and streamline processes to reduce manual work and errors
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve financial data quality

Team Leadership

  • Build an offshore team to support staffing accounting functions
  • Support hiring as the accounting function grows
  • Set clear priorities and expectations in a fast-moving environment

Strategic Finance Partnership

  • Partner closely with the President on budgeting, forecasting, and planning
  • Provide accounting guidance on new products, contracts, and initiatives
  • Support fundraising, diligence, and strategic transactions as needed

What success looks like in the first 6-12 months:

  • Close is fast, accurate, and predictable
  • Financials are audit-ready at all times
  • Accounting processes scale with growth
  • Leadership trusts the numbers without hesitation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA mandatory
  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and startup accounting fundamentals
  • Proven ownership of month-end close and audits
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, high-ambiguity environment
  • Startup or high-growth company experience
  • Experience building accounting processes from scratch

Compensation & Benefits

The base compensation range* for this role is $160,000 - $190,000 annually.
