Youth and Environment Europe (YEE) is Hiring a Communications Manager
Youth and Environment Europe (YEE) is seeking a Communications Manager to strengthen the visibility, coherence, and impact of its work from April 2026 onwards. This is a key role within a youth-led, values-driven organisation working at the intersection of environmental protection, climate justice, and youth engagement across Europe.
The position is offered on a full-time basis (40 hours per week), with a 9-month contract and the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability. The role is fully remote, with applicants required to be based in Europe.
About the Role
The Communications Manager coordinates and steers YEE’s internal and external communications across projects, campaigns, and organisational processes. The role ensures that YEE’s messaging is consistent, accessible, and aligned with its intersectional, youth-led values.
By translating complex advocacy work and project outcomes into clear, engaging content, the Communications Manager plays a central role in strengthening YEE’s outreach to member organisations, partners, institutions, and wider audiences. The position supports both public-facing communications and internal coordination, ensuring that information flows smoothly across the organisation.
Role Scope and Functioning
The Communications Manager is a central figure within YEE and works closely with:
- The Communications team
- The Executive Board
- The Secretariat
- Staff, volunteers, and member organisations
- External partners and networks
The role combines strategic oversight, hands-on content creation, and coordination responsibilities. When projects or initiatives do not have dedicated communications capacity, the Communications Manager leads on strategy development, coordinates inputs from different stakeholders, and ensures timely and high-quality delivery of communications outputs.
Key Responsibilities
The Communications Manager’s responsibilities span several core areas:
Strategy, Planning and Reporting
- Develop and oversee communication strategies aligned with YEE’s mission and priorities
- Plan communications across projects, campaigns, and organisational milestones
- Monitor and report on communications performance and impact
Content Creation and Website Management
- Create and edit content for digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and websites
- Design and coordinate digital communication materials such as visuals, brochures, and short videos
- Oversee and manage YEE’s website, ensuring content remains up to date and accessible
Internal Coordination
- Ensure consistent internal communication across teams and projects
- Support coordination between staff, volunteers, and member organisations
- Maintain clear communication processes within a small, collaborative team
External Relations and Networking
- Support relationships with partners, institutions, and networks through strategic communication
- Contribute to advocacy messaging at European and international levels
- Represent YEE’s communications approach in external collaborations when required
Candidates YEE Is Looking For
YEE is seeking candidates who:
- Are strongly aligned with YEE’s values and mission
- Have previous experience in team leadership or coordination
- Have experience designing digital communication materials, such as social media content, brochures, or short videos
- Possess a strong working knowledge of environmental and climate issues, including EU-level policies
- Have experience managing websites or digital platforms
- Are comfortable working within a small, collaborative, international team
- Bring a creative, solution-oriented mindset and can propose innovative ideas
- Are motivated to work in a diverse, international environment
Essential Requirements
Applicants must meet the following essential criteria:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Residence in Europe, preferably with an existing EU working permit
- Be under 35 years of age by the end of the contract period (youth mandate)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a communications-related role
Selection Process
The call for applications is open until 15 February 2026. During this period, candidates are required to:
- Prepare a CV outlining relevant education and professional or voluntary experience
- Prepare a portfolio showcasing previous communications work
- Complete the online application form by 15 February 2026 at 23:59 CET
Late submissions will not be considered. Shortlisting will begin after the deadline. Selected candidates will be invited to online interviews, expected to take place in the second and third weeks of March 2026, and will be asked to complete a short exercise (approximately one hour) in advance.
The use of AI tools to complete the application is discouraged, as YEE prioritises personal reflection and original input.
Contract and Remuneration
- Contract type: Service contract (or local employment contract in the Czech Republic)
- Working time: 40 hours per week
- Duration: 1 April 2026 – 31 December 2026 (with a 2-month provisional period)
- Gross monthly remuneration: €3,603.19
Candidates must be able to issue invoices in line with national legislation. Contract conditions may vary slightly depending on location and contract type.
