High-profile return-to-office (RTO) announcements from major U.S. companies have set a precedent, with Amazon leading the charge by mandating full office attendance.
The Innovation Argument
Innovation has become the rallying cry for bosses justifying the return to the office. Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, stated that remote work is incompatible with high ambition and speed, while Emmanuel Frenehard, Sanofi’s chief digital officer, emphasized the importance of serendipity in the workplace. He argues that spontaneous conversations lead to innovation, which is hard to achieve while working from home.
