£35,000 – £40,000 basic + commission

A UK-based payments provider with a strong reputation for reliability and innovation, delivering tailored solutions to a wide range of merchants across e-commerce and high-risk verticals.

The Role - Business Development Manager, Payments

We are seeking a driven Business Development Manager to expand merchant acquisition across the UK (with some pan-European scope). You will play a key role in driving revenue, building relationships, and closing deals with merchants operating in high-risk industries such as gaming, travel, CBD, adult, nutraceuticals, and other challenging verticals.

This is a hands-on sales role that requires a proactive approach, including cold calling, outbound prospecting, and lead generation to identify and close new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities - Business Development Manager, Payments

  • Hit and exceed ambitious sales targets.
  • Prospect and cold call potential merchants to drive new business.
  • Manage relationships with clients and banking partners during onboarding.
  • Build bespoke payment solutions tailored to merchant needs while ensuring profitability.
  • Maintain and grow a strong sales pipeline.
  • Pitch and negotiate at C-Suite level with mid-market and enterprise merchants.

About You - Business Development Manager, Payments

  • 2+ years’ experience in sales, business development, or account management within payments or fintech.
  • Proven success selling into high-risk industries (gaming, travel, CBD, adult, etc.) is essential.
  • Comfortable with outbound sales and cold calling - thrives on building opportunities from scratch.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong commercial drive.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Confident pitching to senior decision-makers.
