Job Description

Posted on: January 31, 2026

Context: I’m sharing this opportunity on behalf of a private individual at the request of my employer. This role is not affiliated with my current position or organisation. It is an urgent and serious recruitment for a highly specialised medical research professional.

Overview We are seeking a visionary medical researcher to support a patient with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) by exploring cutting-edge and unconventional advancements in medical science and artificial intelligence. This role focuses on AML's biology, host interactions, and emerging technologies to identify personalized treatment paths, including novel or experimental trials accessible from locations like Sydney, Australia. Ideal for a motivated, tech-savvy expert who can start immediately and think beyond conventional oncology to inspire innovative approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret breakthroughs in CRISPR gene editing (e.g., base editing for NPM1 mutations), protein folding simulations (e.g., AlphaFold 3 for AML protein targets), MARLIN 2.0 (AI-methylation diagnostics for AML subtypes), and general AI advancements (e.g., DeepAML for relapse prediction).
  • Expand to other 2025-2026 innovations, such as quantum AI for accelerated drug discovery (e.g., IBM's quantum simulations of FLT3 inhibitors), AI-optimized organoids from patient biopsies for personalized therapy testing, nanotechnology for targeted siRNA delivery to AML blasts, and microbiome modulation (e.g., gut bacteria engineering to boost immunotherapy responses).
  • Explore related but unconventional approaches, including AI-personalized psychedelic therapies (e.g., psilocybin for immune modulation and anxiety reduction in AML patients), neuro-immunology links via AI-analyzed wearable data (e.g., predicting flare-ups through neural patterns), or synthetic biology biohacking (e.g., engineered stem cells for AML resistance). Discuss how these could lead to new, experimental trials or self-advocacy opportunities.
  • Compile a comprehensive list of ongoing AML clinical trials, prioritizing those incorporating these technologies (e.g., menin inhibitors like revumenib, allogeneic CAR-T therapies, or AI-matched personalized regimens). Focus on accessible options (e.g., in Australia, US, or via international tele-enrollment), with details on eligibility, phases, locations, and innovative/unconventional elements.
  • Deliver a forward-looking report with evidence-based recommendations, scenario planning for future AML trends (e.g., 2030 AI-cured subtypes), and creative ideas for patient-initiated research or trial participation.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD or MD) in oncology, hematology, AI in medicine, or futurist biosciences, with deep knowledge of AML host interactions (e.g., genetic mutations, immune evasion, microbiome influences).
  • Track record in innovative research, including hands-on experience with AI tools (e.g., quantum simulators, organoid modeling) and unconventional fields (e.g., psychedelics in oncology or biohacking).
  • Ability to synthesize complex, speculative data into actionable insights for patients, with a futurist mindset for exploring "what if" scenarios.
  • Tech proficiency in databases like PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and emerging AI platforms (e.g., quantum cloud services).
  • Immediate availability for 10-20 hours/week, with flexibility for rapid iterations.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay (negotiable, with bonuses for novel discoveries).
  • Chance to shape patient futures in a high-impact, speculative field.
  • Fully remote, with tools for AI collaboration.

How to Apply Submit your CV, cover letter highlighting futuristic projects (e.g., AI in cancer), and work samples (e.g., publications on emerging AML tech) to alexa@balcony.com.au
