2D Artist (volunteer)

Would you like to help design engaging learning experiences?At Nordic Waves Group, we’re building a science-based climate learning universe - combining education, interactive experiences, and game-based learning to strengthen climate literacy.We’re now looking for a 2D Artist (UI-focused) to join us.

While we’re developing immersive 3D experiences, a big part of what we’re building will live in 2D mini-games and interfaces - where clarity, usability, and visual storytelling are critical.

What you’ll work onYou’ll take the lead on the 2D layer of our product, including:

• UI design for mini-games and learning modules
• Visual design of 2D game environments and assets
• Translating learning concepts into clear, engaging interfaces
• Working closely with developers and game designers
• Helping shape how users navigate and understand our universe

What we’re looking for

• Strong skills in 2D design and UI/UX for games or digital products
• Ability to design for clarity, flow, and user understanding - not just visuals
• Experience with game UI, interactive products, or similar
• A structured, collaborative mindset - comfortable working with developers
• Interest in climate, sustainability, or education is a big plus

What we’re building

We are in the process of creating a modular climate learning universe with climate topics, structured learning objectives, and learning modules all experienced through short and interactive mini-games.

The goal is to help increase climate literacy, mitigate climate anxiety, and turn complex matters into social and interactive learning.

• Expected hours (average): 5-8h weekly.
