- A passion for journalism and storytelling.
- An inquisitive mind.
- Energy to burn.
- An ability to write engaging copy to ensure stories connect with our local audience.
- An understanding of all social media platforms, how to file and schedule stories, and how to follow and understand analytics.
- An understanding of digital audiences, and best-practice communication via digital channels.
- Photographic skills.
- Ideally, you will be able to write headlines for stories, particularly those hosted on our website.
- Ideally, you will have design skills, or be willing to learn.
- An ability to identify news angles in media releases and other related content.
- You will be able to engage with fellow workers in Slack.
- You will be expected to research and have a basic understanding of the logistics, geography, issues and people of the City of Logan.
- You will be provided guidance from experienced journalists, and will be given access to quality training.
This is a remote working position, although the right candidate will be required to have a hands-on, face-to-face connection with the communities of Logan and surrounding regions.
