My non-profit client is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team for a period of 18 months and lead critical pieces of work relating to the major accounting standard changes around the implementation of FRS102/IFRS16 right‑of‑use asset accounting and FRS102/IFRS15 changes to the recognition of contract income.

This is a hands‑on, delivery-focused role that will shape how we account for leases and income and update the financial controls relating to these areas. You'll work as a senior member of the finance team, driving key improvements and supporting colleagues across Finance, Digital, Data & Technology, Children's Services, and other operational teams to ensure that this project is a success and completed for our March 2027 year end.

If you're a qualified accountant who enjoys owning complex accounting projects from end to end, improving processes, and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders then this is the role for you.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the implementation of FRS102/IFRS16 right‑of‑use asset accounting, working on all aspects of the project, including data preparation
  • Lead improvements to contract income recognition (FRS102/IFRS15) in collaboration with colleagues from across the organisation
  • Drive process improvement and financial control to allow the organisation to successfully process and account for these changes and prepare accurate management and statutory accounts, managing the transition to the new processes.
  • Document and train on the new processes across the financial accounts team and the wider organisation as required.

Education & Qualifications

  • A qualified accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA or equivalent) with significant financial accounting experience in a large, diverse organisation.
  • Experience in voluntary or public sector organisations is desirable.

ExperienceYou will have:

  • Hands‑on experience working with FRS102/IFRS16/IFRS15 accounting frameworks and implementing the changes.
  • Strong experience delivering work to tight deadlines.
  • A track record of reviewing and transforming finance processes.
  • Ability to influence, engage and clearly communicate complex issues to a wide audience.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering projects end‑to‑end.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of FRS102 and the Charities SORP.
  • Confident, proactive leadership style with the ability to drive change.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft D365, especially fixed asset and leasing modules, plus PowerBI (desirable)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, analysis).

he role is being offered on a fully remote basis with a salary of circa £55,000.
