Our client is a venture-backed enterprise software company experiencing significant growth and scaling its finance infrastructure to support the next phase of expansion. The company serves large enterprise customers and is building the operational foundation needed to support continued growth, future fundraising activities, and increasing business complexity.
About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on Controller to build and lead the accounting function during a critical stage of growth. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this individual will own the close process, strengthen accounting operations, improve controls, and establish scalable processes that support executive decision-making and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Lead the company's transition toward a more mature accrual-based accounting environment and strengthen revenue recognition practices.
• Develop and document accounting policies, controls, and procedures across key financial processes.
• Partner with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Operations to ensure accurate accounting treatment of customer contracts and transactions.
• Improve accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense management, and cash management processes.
• Manage audit, tax, compliance, and external advisor relationships while improving overall audit readiness.
• Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial workflows.
• Build and scale the accounting team as the company continues to grow.
Qualifications
• CPA required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within high-growth SaaS, software, or technology companies.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, monthly close, revenue recognition, and internal controls.
• Experience building or upgrading accounting processes in a rapidly scaling organization.
• Proven ability to operate in a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves environment with limited existing infrastructure.
• Strong cross-functional partnership skills and experience working closely with executive leadership.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar accounting platforms.
• Experience supporting audits, fundraising activities, or other financial diligence processes is a plus.
