About LEGS

LEGS is a small, ambitious charity delivering physiotherapist-led rehabilitation and community support for people living with neurological conditions. Our mission is to build an active, empowered community through exercise, peer support and education.

RoleDirector of Operations (Maternity Cover) — 0.5 FTE (18.75 hrs/week), remote, fixed term from 5 Jan–Sept 2026 (with 5 paid induction days in Dec 2025; possible extension to Jan 2027). Salary: £50,000–£60,000 FTE (pro-rata £25,000–£30,000). Benefits include 35 days’ annual leave pro-rata, 3% pension (NEST), and £500 CPD pro-rata.

What you’ll do

  • Co-lead LEGS with the Clinical Director to keep services safe, reliable and participant-centred.
  • Own the operating plan and budget; produce clear board papers, manage risk, policies and compliance (GDPR, H&S, insurance).
  • Oversee finance operations: monthly management accounts, cashflow awareness, year-end/audit prep; track restricted funds and grants.
  • Lead people & HR ops (line-manage Participant Co-ordinator; recruitment, right-to-work, DBS; maintain staff records).
  • Support fundraising, comms and impact reporting; maintain website/newsletters and light event support.
  • Champion data protection and continuous improvement across our tools (Microsoft 365/SharePoint, Xero, etc.).

About you

Warm, calm, organised and values-led, with proven operations leadership in a small charity . Strong governance/compliance, finance literacy, and confident written/oral communication with trustees, funders and partners. Good grasp of Microsoft 365 and simple, pragmatic systems. Sector experience (health, rehab, disability or community) is a plus.

Working pattern

Remote. Ideally Mon & Thu 08:45–16:45 (1-hr unpaid break) plus 4.75 hrs on Tue or Wed; we’re open to flexibility requests.

Inclusive hiring

We warmly welcome applications from people who are under-represented in our sector and/or bring lived experience of disability, caring or neurological conditions. We’ll make reasonable adjustments at every stage. Safeguarding checks (DBS), references and right-to-work apply.
