As they embark on their expansion into the United States, we are seeking a driven and entrepreneurial Project Manager to spearhead the launch of their US operations. This role presents a rare opportunity to heavily influence the success of a new entity.

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to support growth in the United States. This role involves managing customer inquiries, supplier communications, procurement strategies, and logistics coordination. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing integrated multimodal logistics solutions, ensuring cost-effective service delivery while fostering strong relationships with suppliers and customers. The ideal candidate is proactive, entrepreneurial, and capable of working independently and within a team.

Key Responsibilities:Operations Management:

  • Coordinate and oversee logistics services, ensuring high-quality execution from initiation to completion.
  • Efficiently process incoming customer requests, conducting commercial evaluations of supplier offers, and managing tender procedures.
  • Select suppliers based on key performance metrics, negotiate contract terms, and finalize agreements.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive supplier list, continuously conducting market research to ensure optimal choices.
  • Build and deliver local logistics solutions in the US, including pre-carriage/on-carriage, port handling, and coordination with suppliers and receivers.
  • Oversee door-to-door shipments of projects, machinery, and consumer goods, ensuring seamless processing through the company’s IT system.
  • Coordinate multimodal and cross-trade shipments with global colleagues, agents, and suppliers, maintaining clear communication and effective reporting.
  • Support the project and sales teams with timely follow-ups on customer RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and tenders.
  • Manage rate requests from suppliers, negotiate prices and conditions, and resolve operational issues related to freight movements.

Solution Building:

  • Develop new logistics products and services, focusing on creating optimal solutions that meet client needs and reduce transportation costs.
  • Participate in the preparation of tenders, conducting feasibility assessments, and developing detailed technical solutions for product integration.
  • Initiate and execute scenario planning, continuously optimizing existing services and developing new offerings to enhance service delivery.

Project Management:

  • Lead end-to-end management of initial commercial projects, ensuring successful delivery of logistics services from planning through execution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, partners, and clients to ensure smooth operations and high client satisfaction.
  • Effectively manage timelines, budgets, and resources to meet project goals and client expectations.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively addressing any issues or challenges that arise.

Strategic Growth & Expansion:

  • Contribute to the long-term strategic planning of the US entity, identifying opportunities for growth and expansion in new markets.
  • Work closely with the European headquarters to align US operations with the company’s overall vision and goals.
  • Participate in the recruitment and development of the US team as the entity grows, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Who You Are:

  • You have extensive experience with international companies, regularly communicating with global headquarters.
  • You possess advanced knowledge of logistics, particularly within the US market, and are fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • You bring strong communication, negotiation, and supplier management skills, with expertise in procurement and a deep understanding of logistics and customs regulations.
  • You are proficient in analyzing tariffs, pricing, and market information to mitigate risks and optimize operations.
  • You demonstrate a flexible, proactive approach, continuously developing your professional skills and staying updated on industry trends.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, with 2-4 years of experience in a customer-facing role within freight forwarding or a related industry.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities, and an entrepreneurial mindset that drives innovation and problem-solving.
  • You are familiar with sales methodologies and possess a strategic mindset for long-term business growth.
  • You are willing to travel as needed to meet clients and oversee projects.
