Senior Technical Architect
Job Description
Posted on: June 5, 2026
Be the Expert. Shape the Future of Asset Management.
At COSOL, we've spent 25 years helping the world's most asset-intensive organisations get more from their infrastructure. We partner with leaders in utilities, water, energy, mining, oil & gas, and transport to deliver technology and advisory solutions that make reliability possible — because when reliability matters, our clients call us.
Our IBM Maximo practice is looking for a Maximo Technical Consultant who's ready to step into a high-impact, client-facing role where your technical expertise shapes outcomes at an architectural level. If you're the person clients turn to when the hard problems need solving — and you can hold your own in a room with senior stakeholders just as comfortably as you can in a technical design session — we want to hear from you.
About the Role
This isn't a support or admin role. As a Technical Consultant, you'll be the technical authority on complex Maximo engagements — owning architecture decisions, guiding delivery teams, and helping clients build Maximo environments that are robust, scalable, and fit for the future.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Designing and owning end-to-end technical architecture for IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) deployments across client environments
- Leading technical delivery across system administration, integrations, customisation, and reporting on large-scale engagements
- Advising clients on infrastructure decisions — including cloud hosting (Azure/AWS), OpenShift configuration, database architecture, and upgrade pathways from Maximo 7.6 to MAS V8/V9
- Acting as a trusted technical advisor to IT decision-makers and senior client stakeholders — translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance
- Supporting pre-sales and business development — technical scoping, solution demonstrations, proposals, and tenders
- Identifying opportunities to expand COSOL's footprint within client accounts by connecting technical challenges to Maximo capabilities and complementary COSOL solutions
- Mentoring and uplifting the technical capability of consultants across the Maximo practice
- Contributing to practice IP — technical frameworks, architecture patterns, integration accelerators, and reusable assets
- Representing COSOL as a Maximo technical SME in client, industry, and IBM partnership settings
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- Extensive hands-on IBM Maximo technical consulting experience across system administration, integrations, customisation, and reporting in complex, multi-client environments
- Proven ability to design and deliver Maximo technical architecture — including integration design, database architecture, and system configuration at scale
- Proficiency in Maximo database platforms — Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, or Informix
- Programming or scripting experience — SQL, Java, Python, or equivalent — applied in a Maximo delivery context
- A strong track record in client engagement and the confidence to influence and advise at senior stakeholder levels
- Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline — or equivalent industry experience
Desirable:
- Experience with RedHat OpenShift installation and configuration for MAS deployments
- IBM Maximo certifications (MAS Specialist, Technical Architect, or equivalent)
- Experience delivering MAS V8/V9 implementations or migrations from Maximo 7.6
- Azure or AWS cloud hosting experience in a Maximo context
- Familiarity with Tririga, Cognos, or IoT/Monitor integration frameworks
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks
- Background in asset-intensive industries: utilities, water, mining, energy, oil & gas, or transport
- Project management experience across Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies
- Experience presenting at industry events, IBM forums, or knowledge-sharing settings
Why COSOL?
- Join a 25-year specialist firm with deep IBM and SAP partnerships and a reputation built on technical excellence
- A practice environment where your IP contributions are valued — architecture patterns, frameworks, and accelerators you build become part of how we deliver
- Real opportunities for business development involvement — not just delivery
- A collaborative team that supports each other, shares knowledge, and invests in growth
- Work on genuinely complex, meaningful problems in critical infrastructure
