Contract Grant Writer - Education Sector

We are seeking a skilled Grant Writer (contractor) to support our independent school’s efforts to secure funding from government, philanthropic and corporate sources.

This is a flexible, project-based contract opportunity suited to a seasoned professional who can independently manage and deliver high-quality grant submissions, aligned to the school’s vision and growth priorities.

We are at a pivotal stage in our development and are looking to build a sustainable funding pipeline to support programs, capital works and inclusive learning initiatives.

Scope of Work

• Identify and evaluate grant opportunities aligned to school needs
• Draft compelling, outcomes-driven grant submissions
• Collaborate with school leadership to gather supporting information
• Prepare grant budgets and impact frameworks as needed
• Maintain grants register with deadlines, outcomes and reporting requirements
• Provide guidance on long-term funding strategy (optional)

You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated success writing winning grants (ideally over $50K)
• Excellent writing, synthesis and project coordination skills
• An understanding of educational, philanthropic or NFP funding contexts
• Capacity to work independently, efficiently and in alignment with deadlines
• Familiarity with funding bodies such as FRRR, Ian Potter, or government programs
• (desirable)

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor role – invoice for services rendered
• Flexible hours and remote-friendly
• Can be scoped per project, monthly retainer, or combination
• Success-based bonuses may be considered, where compliant with funder guidelines
