Business & Commercial Development Manager (Remote – Full Time, 12 months – Maternity Cover)Department: Commercial Market Engagement
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday (excluding lunch breaks)
Location: Fully Remote (UK)
About the Role
This is a broad, dynamic, and highly influential position at the heart of our commercial function. You will support both your own territory and the wider commercial team to drive growth across product, local, regional, and national levels.
With a strong focus on internal and external engagement, you will champion new initiatives, lead projects from ideation through to commercialisation, and play a key role in identifying and executing new market opportunities. Sitting alongside the management team, you will help steer strategic development and drive tangible business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Engagement
- Drive consistent YOY commercial growth and support commercial teams to reach full potential
- Lead tender/bid writing and manage full tender compilation and submission processes
- Proactively identify tender opportunities and understand NHS/public sector procurement
- Build strong, consultative partnerships with senior stakeholders (including NHS ICBs)
- Support opportunity identification, prioritisation, pricing, and strategic commercial projects
- Deliver creative KOL engagement initiatives across your territory and the wider business
Bids & Tenders
- Lead and coordinate bid submissions with full ownership of bidding opportunities
- Ensure comprehensive, timely bid responses aligned with service specifications
- Provide reporting to senior leadership on live tenders and pipeline movements
- Understand procurement policies/frameworks (e.g., NHS Provider Selection Regime)
- Develop cohesive bid narratives and lead bid strategy and audit-ready processes
- Oversee internal projects for new service models, ensuring commercial viability
- Collaborate with Commercial, R&D, Governance, and Finance teams on proposals
- Present bid information professionally at internal/external meetings
- Maintain up-to-date bid libraries and ensure the team is resourced for upcoming pipelines
- Attend bidder interviews and present models compellingly when required
- Support tender writing, commercial offer creation, mobilisation and handover of won services
- Share innovation and learning across teams and keep abreast of NHS developments
Requirements
- Degree-level education (APMP qualification advantageous)
- 3+ years’ experience in successful bid development and management
- NHS/healthcare market experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated commercial growth mindset and strong attention to detail
- Strong tender/bid writing capability with proven win-rate success
- KOL mapping and stakeholder engagement experience
- Skilled in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and sales pipeline management
- Excellent organisation, project management, and communication skills
- Creative digital engagement knowledge
- IT literate across Microsoft 365
