About The Role

As a Senior Frontend Engineer in the Core Foundation team at Airbnb, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating and simplifying the engineering processes involved in building products for the end-to-end guest and host journey. Your expertise will help create and maintain foundational libraries that empower product engineers to develop high-quality, performant experiences across desktop and mobile web platforms.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Data, and Infrastructure, acting as a bridge to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of Airbnb’s web applications. Your primary focus will be on elevating the user experience by enhancing the speed, reliability, and scalability of our web interfaces, ensuring that both guests and hosts can enjoy a smooth and engaging platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of industry experience focusing on Web Client and Product Foundation development.
• Proven experience in improving architecture, developer tooling, and libraries for high-traffic websites.
• Strong collaboration skills, with experience working remotely with cross-functional teams.
• Deep understanding of engineering productivity pain points and solutions.
• Solid coding skills with demonstrated knowledge of data structures and asynchronous programming.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Motivation to work outside of comfort zones and pursue continuous personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Data, and Client Infrastructure teams to design and develop high-quality APIs that support daily engineering workflows.
• Contribute actively to projects by creating and reviewing high-quality pull requests, ensuring code quality and maintainability.
• Develop comprehensive tests to guarantee software reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Create and review architecture design documents for new projects, ensuring alignment with company standards and best practices.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in web development and performance engineering.
• Identify and solve engineering productivity pain points to streamline development processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of web features.
